What is Kamikaze?

In Japanese history, Japan had only a few crises to be invaded by foreign forces, twice by Mongolians and once by the USA.

When the Mongolian empire was at peak, Fubirai Kahn, a grandchild of Genghis Kahn, attempted to conquer Japan in 1274 and 1281 with massive forces. In both occasions, divine force, perhaps typhoon, destroyed Mongolian forces at sea. Since then, there was a belief that Japan was protected by divine force.

During the World War II, when Japan was loosing, Japanese air force adapted desparite suicidal attacks and named kamikaze after the divine wind.

Kamikaze was a crazy strategy.

At the time, Kamikaze was like guided missiles, and feared by American soldiers.

A fountain drink composed of multiple random shots of sodafrom a self-service soda fountain. Due to the inherently chaotic nature of the drink's creation, no two kamikaze drinks are ever the same. Also called a suicide, since you take your life in your own hands when you make this drink.

The name of a tempest which wrecked a mongol fleet (led by a descendant of Genghis Khan) that tried to invade Japan. The name lends itself to a sqaud of Japanese WWII pilots who had very little training, so were just told to load up with explosives and crash into vessels. Although a number of European warships were attacked by Kamikaze, the steel decks meant that the attacks were ineffective.

Self-sacrifice was a last ditch attempt to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Derived from WWII; when japanese suicide fighter/bomber pilots would fly their airplanes directly to American warships, often crippling them or destroying this. They believed there was honor in this.
