What is Karma?
How you treat a girl affects how the girls treats you back
Giving a girl a stick of gum can result in her later becoming interested with you being a nice person and later she'll give you her phone number, thats karma (love).
The Buddhist belief that whatever you do comes back to you, e.g. if you do something good, something good will happen to you, and vice versa.
I have good karma.
the belief that all of your actions will have equal reprecussions, affecting you.
"My Karma ran over your Dogma"
Karma is a word from the philosophy of many Indian religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism). The basic theory is that the universe runs according to certain laws, all described by one word 'Dharma' (Sanskrit) or 'Dhamma' (Pali). The basic theory is: 'cause and affect'. The laws (Dharma) decide what affect is beget from a given cause. Karma is the 'cause' part of this theory. In other words, your actions - mental, vocal and physical are your Karma (plural).
Please note that in the Buddhist philosophy, Dharma does not 'punish' or 'reward' anyone. The concepts of good and bad don't exist here. For example, gravity is one of the laws of the universe, and if you jumped off a building and killed yourself, we wouldn't say that gravity was punishing you.
Selfless service will help 'improve' my Karma.
the saying of 'what goes around comes around'
karma comes back around.
George Bush is our Karma for NOT PAYING ATTENTION!!!
"Hey, Archie---did you vote for George Bush in the last election?"
"Who, ME?!?!? Naw...I NEVER vote...I'm too busy watching 'Real World', downloading porn, wasting my trust-fund and whining about nothing to vote."
"Well, I guess the fact that George Bush has had TWO TERMS in office is your KARMA for being an apathetic little ass-monkey! And by the way: fuck you very much, Archie!"
Karma is the Hindu and Buddhist philosophy according to which the quality of people’s current and future lives is determined by their behavior in this and in previous lives. Good behavior is rewarded with goodness in life, and bad behavior is punished.
It is something like God: it takes one to be a believer to experience it and be convinced of it.
In today's world though, the applicability of karma is limited only to the current life, since future lives are more a matter of speculation.
A good intermix of right and wrong actions may help you establish a theory of karma for your personal use.
