What is Kwaito?

South African urban music, based on slowed-down house music from the US and UK with added African vibes.

Derives from the Afrikaans 'kwaai' literally meaning 'vicious' (in the sense of wicked).

Coined by Arthur (aka Arthur Kaffir). Currently hated by most white people in South Africa who will no doubt claim they always loved 20 years after the fact (c/f James Brown, and Black music).
