A semi-funky yet also semi-dumpy small town in Southeastern Ohio; a slang term for Marietta, Ohio, that first came into use by the bored and eccentric local coffee house youth there during the 1990s. A pun derived from the more popular urban slang term " ghetto", but applied to the small town of Marietta, Ohio, and thus the contraction "Marieghetto" came about.

Q: Yes, but is Marieghetto a merry ghetto?
