What is Nig Ice?

The figurative barrier that prevents people from using racials slurs when conversing with people they do not know very well.
Example 1: The conversation was stifled and boring, until someone broke the nig ice. After that, everyone was able to relax and spout idle racism.
Example 2: I wanted to tell that hilarious racist joke I had heard, but no one had yet broken the nig ice, so I wasn't sure how well it would go over.
