Patrolman For Life. One obtains this title when one is unpromotable in law enforcement and they are doomed to patrol the streets until retirement without promotion. PFLs are either very competent and therefore a threat to management and unpromotable or they are so stupid they don't know to kiss ass to get promoted and are therefore unpromotable.
Officer 1: Hey did you hear Smith made sergeant?
Officer 2: How did he make it? He is such a hump I figured he would be a PFL.
