The above quote is wrong and misleading. Ricky Martin is Puerto Rican, hence a natural born U.S. citizen (read American).

Why is that person inferring that Ricky Martin is Mexican?

I'm not sure. But he seems to have an agenda to Mexicanize peoples thoughts about illegal immigrants ( illegal aliens) by associating a famous American singer with Mexico.

The person could also just be plain stupid to think that Puerto Ricans would be associated with Mexicans. Boricuas/Riquenos/Puerto Ricans are not Mexicans. Boriken/Borinquen/Puerto Rico is not a part of Mexico.
