What is Shin-ding?

A lame office party, wine & cheese, or semi-professional get-together. The bell tolls on the gathering - "ding, dong" - and yet you must stay out of respect for the organizer/organization that sponsored the event.
"I can't wait to ditch this shin-ding. The waiters/waitresses serving the mini-hotdogs aren't even hot, and yet the Boss will kill me if I don’t talk shop with these fat-cat bankers.”
