Sindie

What is Sindie?

1.

Sindie.Sindie(SceneXIndie)is the new scene; the scene is dead and therefore will be replaced. It's gone on too long and has become too manufactured by the 'Topshop Scene' and 'H&M Scene'. True scene kids who can relate more to Trashcore, Fashioncore, Hardcore, will understand and despise this look. Created from the very essence of the scene; they mass produce trashy belts, polka dots, animal print, big sunglasses, drainpipes, bandanas and hardcore shirts. Sindie does by no means mean to irradicate the scene, far from it. More to create a superior race of kids, actually individual and free from cheap imitations. The original scene kids, or just those who need a new sub culture to immerse themselves in will find solace in Sindie.

Sindie is not only original and cool; it also embraces the best of both the Scene and Indie sub-cultures. Both dress senses merged to allow for a trashier and more hXc Indie look to emerge. Of course MySpace is still the very life blood of Sindie, however, Sindie aims to draw away from that 'oh I’m so hardcore your not good enough for my scene' mentality of so many arrogant and bitchy scene kids. Sindie kids do not pretend to be Bi to attract the opposite sex. You actually value people on their own personal merits rather than a MySpace friend competition. Yes some Sindie kids may have tattoos and piercings but this does not make them more Sindie. Anyone can be a Sindie Kid, providing they like the look and the music. It's not a hard look to pull off; at present it's very exclusive and is actually individual. Hopefully it will not become the big craze as I aspire to look individual and hope that others still believe in the 'individuality is not dead' mentality. Sindie arose from the thoughts of two people about how fed-up they were with the 'scene' that had been killed by poserxcore kids who got a bad name for it. I hated being called scene as it's a horrible label that you are judged for, it is also tiresome and uninteresting. The real 'scene'; going to shows and meeting with people of similar interest, was all but lost and MySpace took over. We both realised how Indie had somewhat, fallen by the wayside in this desperate attempt to be 'MySpace'. It needed/ needs resurrecting; on the other hand that scene did/ does still have some fantastic attributes. These will still be upheld, make no mistake, but it's a sort of branch away from the scene, an alternative, a minor scene. The word has been copyrighted so we can still lay claim to it if it ever does become a real sub-culture. I do hope, however, that it will become a sub-culture amongst those who are truly deserving of individuality and not of those who only care about the latest trend and something to be part of, not because the believe in the values the music but because they like the clothing. Sindie will not become another scene for 14 year olds to claim to be part of. It will be a SUB-CULTURE for those willing to break away from the travesty that is now this so called 'scene'.

People who enjoy underground indie and hardcore music, without being labelled for only liking it for the scene. They can dress differently without the look being manufactured by major labels and shops or without the worry of having x537388939003938 14 year olds try and copy. A combination of both scene/ indie fashion and music, allowing for fashion progression and new influences. No need to conform to any mindset. Anyone can be Sindie. :
