Sipapu

What is Sipapu?

1.

A Hopi word for the place where the Ancestors entered this World. In a Kiva - the ceremonial gathering place - there is a hole in the floor to symbolize the tradition. This hole in the floor is also referred to as Sipapu.

We visited the Sipapu on the Lower Colorado River.
