What is Star-crossed?

A person, usually a lover, that would have been perfect for you if the circumstances were different. Some say you knew each other in another lifetime.
I met the love of my life when I was studying abroad in Europe, but we must be star-crossed-- our relationship will never work out thousands of miles away.
