abbreviation in organic chemistry for the

t-butyldimethylsilyl protective group (commonly used to protect alcohols, rendering them unreactive to a variety of reaction conditions).

A TBDMS group can be removed to reveal the alcohol either under acidic conditions or by employing fluoride ion.

The alcohol was protected as a TBDMS ether.
