A reference to when somebody pulls out their cell phone in front of their friends and acts like he or she is texting to give the illusion that he or she is cool, popular, and important.
"Everyone thinks Jenny is so cool and popular because she is texting all the time. But its really just a texting illusion. She never texts anybody."
