What is The J?

Mostly known as "La Selva" or "The Jungle"; A lower-class neighborhood of the semi-upper-middle class suburban town, Melrose Park Located in Illinois. Popular for its gang activity as a violent place to live. Any person with a Hispanic background will enter into this neighborhood, where their family members might or might not reside. Any other person from a different background may joke about The J, calling it "the ghetto."
"Did you hear that some leva got her ass jumped in the J the other day?"
"Mi Tia's having rancheras in La Selva tomorrow"
