What is Thin Icer?
1.
Someone who is skating on thin ice , who is taking risks and is in a situation of constant danger.
One famous THIN ICER, whose survival owed more to luck than judgement, was Theobald III, an Anglo-Saxon king who ruled the area which is now the County of Dorset.
Popularly nicknamed THEOBALD THE NICER, he was the hereditary successor to Theobald the Nasty and Theobald the Thoroughgood.
During his reign, The Nicer was under constant threat of attack both from the Vikings and from his local rival Roger the Rooster, the ruthless Earl of Wimborne.
"The sword of John Cleese * forever hangs over my head," the endangered monarch would often complain to Queen Camilla and her ladies-in-waiting who, on hearing this, would drop their embroidery and wet themselves with fear. (In winter, as a result, every floor in the palace resembled an ice-rink.)
The Nicer's royal coat of arms was for many years in the possession of Frinton College in Essex, before being sold to the American millionaire Nurdell P. Natwick III. It may now be viewed on the Library of Congress website.
A unique icon of regal heraldry, the main features of The Nicer's family crest are a unicornet rampant, with clintistorit pursuivant, on a blue, woad-tinged background. The apt motto beneath reads "The bolder, the nicer."
