Posting off topic messages to a discussion forum. Usually, but not always, with purposeful intent to derail the discussion.
Example post for thread-shitting:
"I just ate a huge bean burrito for lunch! There really wasn't enough cheese in it, but the extra Pico made up for it. It was quite satisfying."
