A military organization formed to free the PLANTS from the oppression of the Atlantic Federation. ZAFT is made up solely of coordinators.

Tension between ZAFT and OMNI(the Earth Alliance Forces) escalated to a full scale war after a nuclear attack on the agricultural PLANT of Junius 7, killing more than 200 000 civilians.
