The term for when someone in an argument or discussion gets fixated upon one of the opening points of discussion and is unable to think around this point. As a result they then continue the debate without truly considering what the actual argument is as they missed the points that came after the one they got tunnel vision on.
A group of people hang their heads in mental agony as someone displaying a chronic case of maricvision still goes on about something said hours ago now totally irrelevant to the discussion taking place.
"Dude, you are really missing the point by clinging onto that earlier point, it is not even really related to what we are actually talking about anymore" says the friend.
The gathered people all sigh as the person with maricvision begins his rant again.
