Also known as the Might of the South, because it was the only state to actually do anything in the civil war (Best Army and Generals, home of 2 of 3 southern capitals Richmond and the last capital Danville). Virginia is not a mid-atlantic state. Mid-Atlantic states include -Pennsylvania,Delaware,marylarnd, and Rhode Island. Virginia is full of rich forest, never ending streams and huntable wildlife. Virginia is also a very divided state, Nothern - Kerry Votes, Liberals and homosexuals and Mid to Southern - Bush Votes, Conservitives. Virginia has been a Red state, like the rest of the south, since the 1960s.
Alabama Man - Blah Blah Blah Heart of Dixie!
Virginia Man - Heart of Dixie my ass, learn about the confederacy before you talk it about it.
Kentucky Man - Oh Cool we have a star, but wait we never left the union?

First of all, 12 year olds like the kid above me make us look bad, (trust me, he's an exception to the rule). Virginia contains a wealth of history, especially in the eastern part of the state. In Norfolk we house the largest naval base in the world, which unfortunately, makes us the biggest nuclear strike target in the world. The military is the key economic factor in the eastern part of the state. They've tried to clean up the resort area in VA Beach, with limited success. "Decent" surf is brought to our shores in the winter time, stomach-chest high on a good day. I wouldn't recommend going past Richmond unless you'll be staying on the interstate, God only knows what goes on there. In summary, it's a hell of a lot better than
Contrary to popular belief, Virginia is not pronounced like "vagina."

The Commonwealth of Virginia is a southern state with a highly diverse population. The inhabitants are largely technocrats, rednecks and otakus, or some combination thereof. Northern Virginia tends to identify more with DC than the Commonwealth as it is the home of the civil servants and bureaucrats that run the federal government. Although distinct regions have their own identities, people of all types listed above can be found all over the State.
The Commonwealth was an important player in national politics for the first 100 years of the USA’s existence, being the birthplace of several notable Presidents and other national leaders. In the Civil War, Virginia joined the Confederacy and became the site of many of the war’s most important battles and the Confederate capital.
Today, Virginia is part of the South that is rising again, at least in terms of high-tech industry.
What would Stonewall Jackson think of Inuyasha? Only someone in Virginia would conceive of such a question. Scary. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

Located in the American southeast, Virginia is the birthplace of the United States Of America. Not to be confused with Tenessee, Virginia is the birthplace of Country music and Southern culture and most of the modern South's populations have ancestors that are from Virginia. The state's first song, which was written by a former slave, was Carry Me Back To Ol' Virginny but is not used anymore due to it's offensive lyrics against African Americans, A second song has yet to be written. The state's flag was adopted during the Civil war to show resistance against the Union North, which Virginians saw as tyrants. The old or ol' dominion is the state's nickname.
Northern Virginians are exactly that and do not identify with Central and Southern Virginia but tend to have more in common with D.C. and
Guy 1 - I want to experiance the American history, hmm Maybe Westmoreland, Virginia?
Guy 2 - Yes that's a great place, George Washington and Robert E Lee were both born there!

Down where the South begins !
Virginia is for The FFVs- the true bastillion of the blue blooded Southern Artiocracy. Virginia is full of gracious plantation homes, home to Robert E. Lee, spoonbread, sweet tea, Brunswick Stew, and Country Music Legend Patsy Cline and wonderful singer-songwriter Meade Skelton. Many Yankees and tranplants who are jealous of this heritage out of ignorance will put old Virginia down. And even try to change our glorious state song. But we shall pervail !
